Todd Howard envisions The Elder Scrolls 6 to become the "perfect fantasy world simulator." The Director of Bethesda Softworks intends to lead the game's development all the way up to its release.

"We want The Elder Scrolls 6 to be the perfect fantasy world simulator. There are different ways to achieve this, considering the time that has passed [since the announcement]," Todd Howard stated.

Furthermore, Howard currently has no plans to retire. According to him, he is "still far away" from leaving the gaming industry.

The Elder Scrolls 6 was announced in June 2018. Since then, Bethesda hasn't provided specific release dates for the game. On June 27, from court documents of the litigation between Microsoft and the United States Federal Trade Commission, it was revealed that, in Phil Spencer's opinion, the game won't be released "at least for the next five years."

Currently, Bethesda has focused all its efforts on Starfield, set to be released on September 6, 2023. The game will be available on PC and Xbox Series X|S.
